CHRISTINA RICCI - Zac Posen. Hands down the best dress of the night. Holy shit that gorgeous. Ricci had dropped off my radar lately. But this is GORGEOUS.
JENNIFER LOPEZ - Gucci. I normally don't rate Lopez as I find she has a way of making fashion - trashy. I don't know how she does it but it happens. But I kinda like this in an odd way. When I first saw it I wondered if it was Marc Jacobs, because of the color and the collar detail. But I was surprised to hear it was Gucci. Not normally a fan of them either. The color is gorgeous. Even if she does clash with the carpet.
RIHANNA - It's rare to see Rihanna in something shit. Or it used to be rare. Before she released her current album and changed her look from Giles Deacon to well, I'm not sure how to describe it. But she used to work it. Now it's just.....something. I loved her shaved hair and really cool way with rocking leather. This is dull, ill fitting and her hair makes her look like Ariel the little slutty mermaid. Not to mention that with strappy shoes like that you have to be careful what hem you have on your dress as it will cut you in half. This does exactly that. For shame Rihanna. And worse then that? It's Stella McCartney.
DAPHNE GUINNESS - McQueen. There is only person daft enough to wear this from Sarah Burton's last collection and it's Guinness. Bitch is as mad as a bag of spanners. Mad but brilliant.
JANELLE MONAE - Chanel. She looks like a female Karl Lagerfeld (in fact King Karl has said on occasion he loves her look). I LOVE this. I have a thing for high collars. Even though I'm still searching for the perfect one myself. This is just brilliant and a welcome change from the usual wavy hair princess look which dominates the red carpet. It's elegant while very funky and very wearable. A possible graduation option for me I think! (the suit, not Chanel)
FERGIE - Marchesa - I appreciate what she was trying to do here and I think her problem is caused by her make-up artist and the color of the dress. It drains her and the make-up artist has done nothing to counter act that. Not to mention her boobs are jammed in there. I wouldn't go as far as to say she can't breathe, but I definatly think she is at the very least uncomfortable.
BEYONCE - Emilio Pucci - Oh this makes me sad for her. I feel real pity here. She can't breathe. Not to mention the dress is rotten to the core. I like the delicate lace on the neckline of the dress. But that's about it. She seriously looks several levels of wrong. She does favor her fishtail tight dresses doesn't she?
ORLANDO BLOOMS BYORE - Love, we've all been there. Black Swan chic is over. It was over as soon as the film left the cinema. Now all we have are fond memories of headbands, legwarmers and tutus. Speaking of the tutu, it does not have a place at an event like this. But haven't we all been there? Inspired by something we saw in a movie only to realise, it doesn't work in real life? I found out the hard way, there is nothing chic about imitating the nightmare before Christmas. Anyway, I'll give her credit for getting rid of her baby weight quickly. Look at her figure! (nice shoes) The dress is by Marchesa and called 'The Swan' incase anyone cares!
RANDOM OLSEN TWIN PART 2 - OMG. What the hell happened! I don't know what to comment on first, the sleeves, the bad fit, the horrible 00's slit on the side, the terribly cheap looking fabric or the fact that she looks like she's about to kill someone. (possibly her stylist) I can't find any details about who made the dress. But there is serious commentary on blogs worldwide about how shit the two of them looked.
Andre Leon Talley - What more can I say about the legend?
EVA MENDES - Stella McCartney. I wouldn't normally include Eva Mendes in a round up of outfits given that she barely appears on my radar, but this is gorgeous. It ticks all the right trend boxes pleats? yes! 70's influence? yes! long maxi dress? yes! one shouldered? yes! Love it. A fantastic effort topped with a fantastic belt.
RANDOM OLSEN TWIN PART 2 : WTF. Seriously. Not only does the dress blend into the carpet (never a good look) but it seriously drowns her. I am so disappointed. I love the Olsen twins style and they normally have great taste. But this is shite. There is such a thing as too much covering up and this looks like some student's tie dye hippy blanket. You expect her to reek of hash and last night's buckfast.
LEIGHTON MEESTER - Louis Vuitton A/W 2011. Now imagine that on Madonna and read the below post. Anyway! She worked it. Far more interesting then Blake Lively's slutty dress. Now don't get me wrong, this is slutty - but good slutty. The kinda slutty that is intentional with all the goods to back it up. Not sure about the shoes. (Mainly because I can't be that nice) and the earrings look cheap. Although I know they cost more then my college education. They just scream Claire's accessories! to me. You know, the place where trends in accessories go to die?
MADONNA - Stella McCartney. God it's nice to see Madonna in something that doesn't make me retch. Or worse yet, something by Louis Vuitton, which lets face it, is strictly for the under 30's. That bunny ear outfit she wore from their collection made me physically ill. ANYWAY, she's really working the 1940's inspired dress with some era appropriate make-up. Dunno if I like or hate the stars, given that I have a history of hating large stars on outfits ( see Henry Holland's SS2011 collection and Chanel 2007) but for some reason, I am not hating this outright. I think I need another angle.
SARAH JESSICA PARKER - 2005 McQueen. I don't know what it is about Saz Jez wearing nude almost skin ton-ish colors lately. But it drains her. However this dress is McQueen, so exceptions should be made. The cut is gorgeous, but what is with the possible manky grey shoe? Not sure what the story with SJP and her label Halston is at the moment, there were rumours that her involved with the company had come to an end. A friendly end, but still an end
