Having the last month of the year, December, come and knock on your door is exciting and frightening at the same time. This we’re saying because, we’re so glad the month of joy, the month of Christmas is finally here. It’s the time when we make others happy and gift joy to everyone around. It’s also the month where the temperatures drop, the sweaters come out, and the duration of cuddles increase. Now coming to the frightening part, it scares us because this is when we realize that another beautiful year has come to an end. The end of a new year makes us feel like the year flew by so quickly that in fact, you find yourself feeling like you had very little time to do everything that you had planned for the year.
And while we keep ourselves engrossed in the Christmas celebrations, most of us cannot help but sit and recollect the year that has passed by. We begin to have this flashback of all the good and bad memories that we lived this year. We begin to take note of things that we managed to achieve and things we just couldn’t. We’re sure some of you will agree that most of us start thinking and recollecting about the year gone by way too seriously especially during the last week of this year 2019. It’s the last week of the decade after all. Here’s a quick low-down of all the things we might be thinking about during this last week of 2019.
1. First Of All, You Cannot Believe It
A majority of us live a sedentary life and this kind of a living keeps us so engrossed in our work and other commitments that we seldom make a note of the days that are running by. All we thought about was to go on a solo vacay maybe; we’ve been postponing it every single month and we’ve reached December already! And yes, we cannot believe it!
2. You Evaluate What Great Things You’ve Done All Year Long
For those who could get at least two points to evaluate — great job you! And for those who’ve been thinking about what great they’ve done for two hours straight and have arrived at nothing — we feel you bruh! You might become a little sad that you wasted a fruitful year.
3. Recoil Mode ON: “Going To Make Every Single Day Count”
And just when you find yourself recovering from the tad bit of sadness that you landed yourself in, you become motivated. You decide to take on every single day of the new year and make it fruitful and worthy of living. And in your head you’re like, “I swear I’ll do it.” You tell yourself that you will be a more determined person the next year who’s going to stick to everything and stay committed.
4. The Beginning Of Resolutions
The end of the third listed thought marks the beginning of making resolutions for the coming New Year. I will get into shape. I will become a vegan. I will write a book. I will not smoke. I will not drink. I will stay focused on work. I will save every month. I will travel at least once a month. I will contribute to an NGO. I will become more active. Woohoo! It’s on!
Wishing you all the best for whatever your resolution is this New Year that marks the start of the new decade.
5. The Creation Of Your Bucket List
Some of them think that creating a resolution is equal to creating a bucket list. But they are two different things, right? Never mind, whatever keeps you in the positive spirit to start the new year. So, what’s on your bucket list this New Year? A trip to Leh? Trek to a mountain? Visit a world wonder? Tip: let the bucket list be lengthy so you have plenty of options if you want to tick off at least a few of them.
6. You Remember Last Year’s Resolutions That You Failed At Badly
So much of planning for the New Year makes you wonder if you successfully stuck to the resolutions you had made for the present year. If you’re someone who had decided to write your journal everyday but haven’t written more than two pages, we might be sailing on the same boat.
7. You Reminisce All The Beautiful Moments The Year Has Given You
You must have experienced unconditional love, some hatred too, and lots of care and attention from different people in a single year. You might have across many new people who taught you beautiful valuable lessons of life. Some of us might have found love; some of us might have found freedom or peace. The last week of the year is when we recall all these emotions that touched our heart this year.
Last but not least, you’ll realize the value of money the most during the last week of the year. New Year celebrations are expensive! You have to go shopping for that sequin dress and attend that happening party. If that thought is dominating your mind consider the mellow route. Because, being at home with your friends and family, and watching an old 80s movie together is a great and inexpensive new year’s eve too.
It’s a nice habit to recall things before beginning a new year, don’t you think? What all do you recall? How did 2019 treat you? Let us know in the comments below.
