Fake Noose tightens on Trump

From comments on Saturday:

The noose tightens...riiighhht.
Same old lies.

Ah yes, the noose tightens.

Since the Donald John Trump presidency began, the media has reported often on this imaginary noose.

On September 21, 2017, Andrew Napolitano wrote, "Trump's Tightening Legal Noose."

He ended his column, "Where does this leave Trump? In the hands of incompetent lawyers, under the crosshairs of a team of very aggressive federal prosecutors and publicly indifferent to the tightening and frightening legal noose around him."

Six days later, Newsweek reported, "Noose Tightening Around Trump Family in Russia Probe, Top Democrat Warns."

It said, "Even though President Donald Trump has calmed his firestorm of tweets about the investigation into alleged ties between Russia and his campaign — he hasn’t called it a witch hunt in weeks — top Democrats say that the noose is tightening around the Trump family, and that it is now crucial to protect Special Counsel Robert Mueller so he can complete the investigation."

On October 18, 2017, Abigail Tracey of Vanity Fair reported, "Trump Trashes Comey's Credibility as Mueller's Noose Tightens. As the special prosecutor hauls in a growing number of Trump associates and staffers, the president launched a pre-emptive strike."

That column ended, "Trump’s tweets seem like a pre-emptive strike against Comey and the F.B.I. at a time when Mueller’s probe, and parallel investigations being carried out by Congress, are expanding to include a number of associates who could be critical to a potential obstruction case. On Monday, former White House press secretary Sean Spicer — who also worked on Trump’s transition team and reportedly diligently documented every conversation he had in the White House — sat with Mueller’s team for questioning that 'lasted much of the day' and centered on the president’s decision to oust the F.B.I. chief, Politico reported. Just days earlier, Reince Priebus also testified for hours in front of Mueller’s team. As my colleague Gabriel Sherman reported, Trump’s former chief of staff was 'champing at the bit to testify,' and his testimony is said to have rattled Trump’s son-in-law and top adviser, Jared Kushner, in particular. Kushner 'was freaked out about Comey from day one,' one Trump adviser told Sherman."

On December 2, 2017, the Financial Times reported, "Flynn’s indictment tightens the noose on Trump’s White House."

On January 10, 2018, MSNBC's Lawrence O'Donnell reported, " Trump breaks Mueller promise as 'noose is tightening.'"

On February 23, 2018, Vanity Fair reported, "Mueller Tightens the Noose, and Breaks Rick Gates."

Noose, noose, noose. For two years. Now as Bungling Bob Mueller prepares his final report, the noose disappeared.

Well, no noose is good news.
